Accounts Payable Specialist (Temp to Hire)

Location: Silver Spring, MD

Position Description

EnCompass LLC is seeking an Accounts Payable (AP) Specialist to join our growing Finance Team! We are looking for a detail-oriented individual with good communications skills who can work in an environment with competing demands and frequent changes or delays.

This is a temporary to permanent position located in our Silver Spring, MD office that follows the EnCompass flexible hybrid work model with split time between telework and the office. Must be legally authorized to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship for a work visa or permit. The applicant must live in the DC Metro area.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

Essential functions:

  • Assist in corporate credit card reconciliation and ensure correct accounting codes and submission of required documentation for all transactions
  • Train staff assigned as credit card reconcilers on the reconciliation process
  • Manage the Finance email box, responding to inquiries on a timely basis and downloading all AP submissions from mailbox to SharePoint
  • Enter vouchers in accounting system including new vendor setup, as needed
  • Coordinate and prepare AP-related information, such as Purchase and Payment Request (PPR) forms and invoices, travel expense forms and documents, and credit card statements with receipts, for external accounting firm and auditors
  • Provide excellent customer service and problem resolution for both internal and external partners
  • Engage fully as a member of the EnCompass staff team, including participating in staff meetings and other EnCompass events
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

Qualifications

Academic Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma and 7 years of experience; or an Associate’s Degree and 5 years of experience; or a Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years of experience.

Experience and Skills

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Proficiency with government accounting software (Costpoint a must)
  • Knowledge of US Government contracts a plus
  • Proficiency with MS Office 365
  • Experience dealing with foreign currencies a plus
  • Must be detailed oriented
  • Solid management, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize assignments and meet required deadlines
  • Ability to communicates credibly and diplomatically with all levels in the organization
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands, and deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events
  • Ability to work in an appreciative, strengths-based environment

The pay range for this role allows for the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. At EnCompass, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $61,500 - $72,000
