General Call for Video and Animation Consultants

Position Description

EnCompass LLC is seeking a consultants with expertise in video and animation production. We are looking for individuals experienced in creating videos in a variety of styles (live-action or animated explainer videos, talking head videos, kinetic typography, etc). The ideal consultant will have good visual design skills and an ability to edit videos and audio, develop scripts and storyboards, create motion graphics,and customize graphics as needed. Experience in video production (camera operating, lighting, audio production, etc) is desired but not required. This role will also require the following skills: highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, creative, excellent communication skills, and ability to meet tight deadlines.

The consultant will work under the direct oversight of a Digital Learning Hub team member and in close collaboration with other EnCompass and client teams or individuals, such as subject matter experts, e-learning and multimedia developers, voice talent, and graphic designers.

The consultant will be responsible for ensuring deliverables are completed on schedule and in accordance with our quality standards. Specific level of effort, deliverables, and periods of performance for specific assignments will be communicated by the project point of contact as assignments become available.

The consultant work for video and animation production will largely take place remotely. There is a preference to have the consultant based in the Washington DC area for any in-person videography needs, but this is not a requirement.

For US-based positions: Must be legally authorized to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship for a work visa or permit.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

Essential functions:

  • Conceptualize and propose creative ideas for video and animation projects based on client objectives.

  • Collaborate with team members to understand requirements, target audience, and key messaging.

  • Review video scripts for the assigned work and provide input as requested.

  • Create storyboards to align scripts with desired visuals.

  • Customize assets including graphics, photos, b-roll footage, kinetic typography, etc.

  • Create closed captions through transcripts.

  • Develop draft videos using graphics, background music, voiceover, client brand, etc.

  • Revise videos based on client feedback for a final deliverable.

  • Ensuring the final draft meets 508 compliance requirements (closed captioning for audio and video, appropriate color contrast, etc.)

  • Adhere to the agreed upon project timeline and level of effort.

  • Attend meetings as needed.

  • Share all deliverables, such as source files and visual/audio assets with EnCompass upon completion of each project.

  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of an Associate’s degree and 5 years’ experience in audiovisual production, animation, multimedia production, or related fields.

  • Expertise in and passion for digital learning solutions, particularly with the creation of video, animation, and audio products.

  • Proficient or advanced skills in video editing software (Premiere Pro, Final Cut, etc), motion graphics (After Effects, Cinema 4D, etc), animation (Vyond, Character Animator, Adobe Animate, etc), and videography (camera operating, lighting, sound engineering etc).

  • Meticulous attention to detail.

  • Strong planning, organization, and time management skills.

  • Ability to build effective working relations with EnCompass and Digital Learning Hub team members.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience or interest in the field of international development and working in cross-cultural environments.

  • Knowledge of principles and best practices of adult learning.

  • Working knowledge in a second language.
